Keitha SmithI hail from Auckland, New Zealand, a beautiful South Pacific country with a population of less than five million people. Auckland is a lovely city – a great place to have grown up and a great place to be raising my own family.
I am a novelist, wife, mother, friend and observer of human nature. I’m generally either ruminating on an idea for a new novel, planning a novel (I’m a big fan of planning) or writing a novel. Sometimes I even do all three at once. I’ve been married to Paul, who I met in England (he was by far the largest souvenir I brought home) for 26 years. He’s originally from Liverpool. I don’t think either of us can believe how fast those 26 years have gone by. Paul is a graphic designer extraordinaire, and is responsible for the cover art for all of my novels. |
Family |
We have two children. Our daughter is twenty and currently studying at Auckland University. She is funny, beautiful and smart and a real joy in our lives. Our son is seventeen and attends the local high school. It’s been an interesting ride with him as he suffers from Autism Spectrum Disorder. In spite of the challenges this has brought into our lives we wouldn’t swap him for the world. Even with his limited communication skills he is quirky, fascinating and entertaining.

Work |
I’m on the board of a charity called Minds for Minds, fundraising to support autism research. If you would like to know more about Minds for Minds visit www.mindforminds.org.nz
Outside of work and family I keep pretty busy but try to find time for a spot of reading here and there and I love word puzzles. I enjoy catching up with friends and sharing in their lives. And wherever I am or whatever I’m doing there’s always fresh opportunity to observe humanity in all its many splendored, wonderful diversity. I am a member of the New Zealand Society of Authors. |
